Help us support Cancer Research UK through www.justgiving.com/ride-for-research

On 18th June 2006, Vyv Wood-Gee and her 13 year old daughter set out on their two Fell ponies to ride from John O'Groats to Lands End in aid of Cancer Research UK.  After 54 days in the saddle and 1,335 miles, they successfully reached Lands End on Saturday 19th August, a real achievement for everyone involved.

Money is still coming in, but so far we know that we have raised at least £8,625 for Cancer Research UK.

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us.  We may have finished our ride but we haven't finished fund raising!  Please see how you can help.

Why we’re riding for research

Riding from the tip to the toe of Britain on our Fell ponies has been a lifelong dream.  Our many friends who have suffered from cancer have made us realise how important it is to live your dreams while you can.  They have also inspired us to raise as much money as we can through our ride for Cancer Research.

One in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives, but cancer need not be a death sentence.  Screening, earlier detection and improved treatments have all improved survival rates.  In 1970 about half those diagnosed with breast cancer survived for 5 years.  Now the figure is 80%.

You can help change the statistics by sponsoring us and helping raise money for Cancer Research.
